Raised in Houston, Texas, Turner's filmmaking journey began with a few friends, a job at Blockbuster Video & the same VHS camera Marty McFly time-travelled with. He attended the University of Denver & graduated with a BA in Mass Communication in 1996.

Encouraged by Lowell Peterson, ASC (SIX FEET UNDER), Turner apprenticed as a Camera Assistant, working in the Camera Department as a Film Loader & 2nd AC under Cinematographers Kent L. Wakeford (MEAN STREETS) & Daniel Pearl, ASC (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE). Turner’s time working under these mentors provided volumes of practical filmmaking knowledge & insight.

Turner shoots commercials, music videos, documentaries & narrative features. His work has premiered on HBO, Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, NBC, at The Sundance Film Festival, The Tribeca Film Festival, AFI DOCS Film Festival & Hot Docs Film Festival.

Turner’s work has taken him around the world; he’s had an opportunity to spend time behind many curtains. These experiences continue to educate & inform his cinematography & his approach to life. He is a true collaborator, genuinely passionate about cinematography & the filmmaking process.

Turner won an Emmy Award for his contribution to the 2014 Disney Christmas Day Parade. He is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 & The International Colorist Academy.

Turner lives in Los Angeles with his wife, son & Smokey the Australian Shepherd. He is a partner of Freestyle Cinema Rentals, a boutique camera house specializing in rehoused vintage lenses.
